The Design of Starcraft II
Oh Blizzard, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. You were there for me during 5th grade when I was merely a budding gamer playing your first iteration of Starcraft. You were there with Diablo II to comfort me during my awkward years of puberty. And then, you were there with Warcraft 3 to destroy my social life during my high school years. But I love thee freely, with a passion put to use.
Needless to say, when I first heard of Starcraft II, I flipped out. First thing’s first, I warned my girlfriend of ourĀ fatefulĀ future once the game was released. I savored every gameplay video that was posted online and I followed every tidbit of news on this epic title.
Recently, Gamasutra released an interview with Dustin Browder, Starcraft II’s lead designer. For me, it is always interesting to get some insight into the inner workings of a great company. Great article, fun interview. Enjoy.
